Type Fundamentals

The Type Fundamentals Book project explored the minute differences that can be made to take a design even further through 5 sections. This book first started off with many restrictions then slowly transitioned to having complete freedom with what could be done for each layout. The one limitation that remained constant throughout the project was only being able to use Univers and only 3 of its weights. The subject of the text used in the book is the Equal Justice Initiative with its themes of racial justice.

While this was an introductory project, this both changed and challenged my understanding of typography early on in my college career. The evolution in composition throughout the sections showcased how something of the same subject matter can be executed differently resulting in different effectiveness.
